The sign reads, "For Sale: Animals for sacrifice - Goats and Cows." Tomorrow is the Muslim festival called Idul Adha. It commemorates the obedience of Abraham to follow God's command to sacrifice his son, Ishmael. Instead of sacrificing him, God provided a lamb in his son's place.
All over town, little stalls like this one have been popping up throughout the past week. The animals will be purchased by those who have means, and then after the sacrifice in the morning, the meat will be divided up among the poor.
